 Studies in Indian Politics

The Journal Studies in Indian Politics, Volume 8 Number 2, was published recently in December 2020 (https://journals.sagepub.com/toc/inpa/current). The latest issue, besides other research papers and regular section, has a special section on Politics & Society between Elections, guest-edited by Siddharth Swaminathan and Sandeep Shastri. In this collection of articles, five critical themes are examined. Drawing richly from the Politics and Society between Elections surveys, grounded in strong theoretical foundations and a robust literature review, utilizing rigorous statistical methods, these articles address particular themes of interest relating to politics and society without the specific political context of an election.

The special section includes the following articles:-

  • Siddarth Swaminathan, “Historical Burden or Lacking Effort? Caste Perceptions of Dalit Socio-economic Conditions”.
  • Asha Venugopalan, “The Effect of Affect: Friendship, Education and Prejudice in India”.
  • Srikrishna Ayyangar, Sham N. Kashyap, Prateeti Prasad and Rishikesh B. S, “School Choice and Implementation: Survey Evidence Across    Indian States”.
  • Jyoti Mishra and Vibha Attri, “Governance, Public Service Delivery and Trust in Government” .
  • Sanjay Kumar and Pranav Gupta, “BJP’s Ideological Hegemony: Combining Religious Conservatism and Nationalism” .
