The BMC has thrown a surprising verdict with the BJP just 2 seats away from the Shiv Sena, its ally in Maharashtra. Though, the BJP has won most of the municipal elections across the state, in Mumbai it is the Shiv Sena which has emerged as the single largest party. Given their strained ties, the Shiv Sena has been exploring options with others like the Congress. The BJP has finally checkmated the Shiv Sena by announcing that it would provide outside support but ensure accountability in the BMC by appointing a deputy Lokayukta.
