Lokniti in association with the National Democratic Institute, Washington D.C organised the Asia Middle East & North Africa Civil Society Exchange Workshop in Delhi, India from 10 – 12 February 2014. The three-day event built upon the recent Civil Society Exchange Workshops organized by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) in Beirut, Lebanon in April 2013 and by NDI and the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) in Bangkok, Thailand in September 2013. The event facilitated exchange between leaders from civil society groups from India, across Asia and the Middle East & North Africa (MENA) to learn from India’s experience in working toward electoral integrity, as well as to share experiences, lessons learned and best practices for promoting electoral integrity. It was a group of 20 scholars, academicians and civil society groups working on electoral reforms. As part of the whole agenda the group had facilitated interactions with the media (Rajdeep Sardesai, Editor in Chief – IBN Network), political parties (AAP and BJP), representative of the Election Commission of India (Director Genearl P.K.Dash) and civil society organisations (Association for Democratic Reform).
