  Research Methods Workshop at the ICSSR-NERC
  Resource Persons from Lokniti, CSDS, with the support of the ICSSR-North Eastern Regional Centre, Shillong conducted a workshop on Research Methods and Quantitative Data Analysis from October 25-29, 2010 at the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Campus, Shillong.

The workshop was attended by eighteen social science doctoral students and young researchers from the North-East, selected for this workshop through a rigorous application process.

This workshop was coordinated by Dr. R. K. Sathpathy, Professor of Political Science, NEHU and Meghalaya Coordinator of Lokniti Network.

Along with Dr. Sathpathy, the resource persons for this workshop were:
 
Suhas Palshikar, Professor, Department of Political Science, Pune University and Co-Director, Lokniti
Sanjay Kumar, Fellow, CSDS and Deputy Director, Lokniti
Divya Vaid, Associate Fellow, Lokniti
Rahul Verma, Research Officer, Lokniti

  Lectures were delivered on the philosophy of social science, the significance of empirical research, and on quantitative studies in Indian elections. There were also a series of lectures on Survey Research, Sampling, and Questionnaire design and data collection techniques. The practical sessions of the workshop included lectures on introductory statistics, both descriptive and inferential, along with hands-on application of these techniques using SPSS

Dr. A. N. Rai, Vice – Chancellor of NEHU, delivered the Opening address. Dr. C. J. Thomas, Director of ICSSR – NERC and Prof. D. R. Syiemlieh, Controller of Examinations, NEHU delivered addressed at the opening and valedictory ceremonies. .
