Dr. A. K. Verma teaches Politics at Christ Church College, Kanpur. He has taught European Political Thinkers (especially Plato, Mill, and Hegel), and the Constitutions of the USA, UK, France and India. Presently, he focuses on Government and Politics in India with special reference to Uttar Pradesh. His recent theoretical explanations ‘reverse social osmosis’ and ‘sandwich coalition’ have given a new explanation to the inclusionary politics in Uttar Pradesh. He was invited by South Asia Initiative, Harvard University in April 2008 to make a presentation on the same.

He writes for both English and Hindi Press - notably The Indian Express, Hardnews and, leading Hindi Dailies ‘Dainik Jagran, Janasatta and Aaj. He assisted in the preparation of the New Generation of NCERT Text Books for Political Science (Indian Constitution at Work). He was invited as a Resource Person to train the cadre of some national political parties. Since 1999, he is the State Coordinator of Uttar Pradesh at Lokniti, and is involved with the National Election Studies (NES) in India.

Dr. Verma is associated with several journals and, currently, edits a Hindi Journal Shodharthy –a Journal of abstracts in Social Sciences, published by Lokniti, Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Delhi since January 2005. He also worked as Editor, Lokniti Bulletin, published by Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), New Delhi, 2002-2004, and as Editor, The U.P. Journal of Political Science, an Official Journal of the U.P. Political Science Association (1989-98). He has appeared on live Television programmes and delivered Radio Talks at home and abroad.
