Sandhya Goswami is a Professor and currently the Head in the Department of Political Science, Gauhati University ,Assam. After graduating from Indraprastha college, Delhi University she joined Jawaharlal Nehru University for M.A and M.Phil and Ph.D from Gauhati university, Assam. She taught at a degree college from 1988 to 1990 before she joined the department of Political Science, Gauhati university. She has been teaching courses at post graduate level on Indian Political System, Women and Politics, Environment and Politics ,Research Methodology and supervises work of the scholars registered for research Programme. She has been associated with National Election Studies since 1996 and has served as the state co-ordinator for Assam in the National Election Studies in 1999,2001, 2004 and 2006 organised by Lokniti.

Specialization: Indian Politics, Electoral Politics in Assam

Research Interest: Professor Goswami’s research interests include language politics, Electoral Politics and social and Political Movements in North-East India
