Dr Sandeep Shastri is the Pro Vice Chancellor, Jain University and Director of its Centre for Research in Social Sciences and Education (CERSSE). Dr. Shastri is the National Convenor of the Lokniti Network. He was earlier on the Faculty of the Department of Post Graduate and Research Studies in Political Science, Bangalore University where he taught from 1984 to 2002 and Dean – Research and Social Science at the International Academy for Creative Teaching from 2002 to 2004. His has been a visiting Adjunct Professor at the University of California at Berkeley and at the University of Central Oklahoma. He has to his credit 9 Books, over 35 articles in Edited Books and 70 articles in refereed Research Journals, besides popular writings in newspapers and magazines He is an International Consultant to the Forum of Federatons for its Project in South Sudan and Ethiopia. In the last five years (since 2006) he has presented papers at more than 50 conferences outside India and over sixty papers in conferences within the country and more than 100 special lectures both in India and abroad.

Indo-Canadian Institute Fellow for 1998-99, attached to the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations, Queens University, Kingston, Canada and was involved in a study involving Indian and Canadian Federalism.
Fellow, Salzburg Seminar (Session 302), Salzburg, Austria held on the theme Perspectives on Federalism.
Invited to visit the United States by the American Government under the International Visitor Program on the theme State and Local Government in the United States in June- July 1995.

Dr. Shastri has participated in several international and national conferences and seminars in several countries. Dr. Shastri has been one of the founder members of the Lokniti Network .. He has served as Lokniti Karnataka State Coordinator for NES 96, NES 98, NEA 98, NES 99 and NES 2004. He was CSDS South-South Visiting Fellow to Nigeria from August to November 2001, attached to the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), Lagos and worked on a theme of Comparative Federalism
