Dr Sandeep Shastri is presently Director of the International Academy for Creative Teaching (iACT). From 1984 to 2002 he was Faculty at the Department of Political Science, Bangalore University and from December 2002 to March 2005 he was Dean - Research and Social Science at the International Academy for Creative Teaching, Bangalore.
Dr. Shastri completed his M.A., securing the First Rank in 1982, M.Phil. in 1984 and Ph.D. in 1993. He has to his credit 4 Books, 3 Monographs, 25 articles in Edited Books and over 50 articles in Research Journals, besides other popular writings. In the last five years (since 1999) he has presented papers in more than 45 national conferences and delivered more than 100 special lectures across the country.

Some of his academic distinctions include:
Member, Planning Committee, Comparative Study of Election Systems (CSES).
Member, Executive Board, SOG (Structure and Organisation of Government), Research Committee of the International Political Science Association.
Member, Scientific Advisory Committee, World Values Survey Committee. An International Team of Experts involved in a cross-cultural study in 85 countries.
Lead Social Scientist for India, Global Access Study.

Indo-Canadian Institute Fellow for 1998-99, attached to the Institute of Intergovernmental Relations, Queens University, Kingston, Canada and was involved in a study involving Indian and Canadian Federalism.
Fellow, Salzburg Seminar (Session 302), Salzburg, Austria held on the theme Perspectives on Federalism.
Invited to visit the United States by the American Government under the International Visitor Program on the theme State and Local Government in the United States in June- July 1995.

Dr. Shastri has participated in several international and national conferences and seminars in USA, UK, Canada, Italy, Austria, Sweden, Switzerland, Hungary, Japan, Israel, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Singapore.
Dr. Shastri has been one of the founder members of the Lokniti Network and is presently the Network Convenor. He has served as Lokniti Karnataka State Coordinator for NES 96, NES 98, NEA 98, NES 99 and NES 2004. He was CSDS South-South Visiting Fellow to Nigeria from August to November 2001, attached to the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), Lagos and worked on a theme of Comparative Federalism.

Research Interests:
His areas of research specialisation include: Survey based Social Science Research, Electoral and Legislative Studies and Federalism.
