Dr. Rajesh Dev is a faculty member of Department of
Political Science at Women’s college, Shillong
and also a visiting faculty to the department of Law,
North Eastern Hill University, Shillong. He is the executive
secretary of Argue India (advanced research group for
understanding eastern India) a research think-tank based
at Shillong. He has been a resource person for textbook
writing for IGNOU (BA & MA) Political Science courses
and has also been engaged in varied social initiatives.
His research interests are focused on Identity Politics,
Ethnic Mobilization and Electoral Politics, Majority-Minority
discourse and Peace Strategies. He has been a member
of the Crisis States programme of the LSE on North East
besides a number of other projects on aspects relating
to Northeast India. He contributes regular commentaries
on contemporary issues in national and regional dailies.
Besides publications in a number of journals and edited
books, Dr. Dev has co-edited two books on Ethno
narratives: Identity & Experience in Northeast India
and Ethnic Identities and Democracy: Electoral politics
in Northeast India. His forthcoming book relates
to connection between armed conflicts, development and
governance in South Asia.
