Dr. Mohanty is a Consultant at the Centre for Youth and Social Development, Bhubaneswar and for last eight years he has been working in the development sector (Governance, Water and Sanitation, Micro Finance, Civil Society, Participatory Methods and Community Management), and linkages building with State/District Administration in association with many national and international level NGOs and research institutions.

His core expertise area in Field Assessment, Project formulation, Planning and monitoring, to Conduct social research, impact assessment studies etc. and preparation of training Manual, IEC materials and Impart Training on various rural development issues through PRA/ PLE,Community mobilization and developing Micro plan through participatory approach.

Research Interest:His Research Interest includes Election Studies, Local Self Government, Micro Finance and Micro enterprises and Alternative Livelihood through sub-sector approach.

Article in Utkal University Journal of Political Science 2004, “Lok Sabha Elections in Tribal Orissa: tribal political preference from 1971 to 1999”.

Around 10 articles in Oriya daily news paper “The Anupam Bharat” on election expenditure and corruption, corruption in election & affidavit, and political awareness in Indian democracy and Delhi politics, Women in Panchayati Raj and PESA in Orissa.

More than three articles in Oriya daily “Dharitri” on Panchayati Raj in Scheduled Areas and other related issues.

Assisted in a Book “Provision of Basic services in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation and Puri Municipality” published by ISS, Bhubaneswar.
