P.Narasimha Rao is Professor in the Department of Economics and Applied Economics at Acharya Nagarjuna University, He has been teaching courses on Econometrics, Research methods and agricultural Economics to Post-Graduate students and research students in the University. He supervises the work of the students registered in their research programmes.

Under his supervision five students were awarded Doctorate degrees . His Research projects include “Participatory irrigation Management” a major research project sponsored by GUC ,Completed in June 2005 and a major research project on “Impact of technology on resource use efficiency in agriculture” sponsored by University Grants commission completed in july,1999. He has also been associated as State Co-coordinator for Andhra Pradesh with the “State of Environment in Indian Cities” Project 2008 and the “survey of Indian Women” Project in 2008. Dr.Rao has been associated with Lokniti .. He has served as Andhra Pradesh State Coordinator for the State of Nation Studies.
