Prof. Noor Ahmad Baba was born, brought up and had his early education at Srinagar, Kashmir. After graduating from Kashmir University, he joined Jawaharlal Nehru University in 1976 for higher education. In JNU he completed his masters in Political Science in 1978. Thereafter, he shifted to the Center for West Asian and North African Studies in the School of International Studies wherefrom he secured his M. Phil and PhD degrees. In addition, he has also successfully completed specialized programmes for academic and research training from the Department of Peace and Conflict Research at Uppasala University, Sweden and Donahue Institute of American Politics and Political Thought, University of Massachusetts, United States of America. Since March 1982 he has been working in the Kashmir University for teaching Political Science at Masters level and guiding research scholars at M. Phil, Ph.D. and Post Doctoral level. Besides teaching, he has headed the department for a record period of 12 years. Presently, in addition to his usual teaching assignment, he is Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences in the university.

Prof. Baba has written extensively on a range of issues dealing with the South and West Asia, including Kashmir and the Indian Politics. His Ph.D. thesis on Organization of Islamic Conference: Theory and Practice of Pan-Islamic Cooperation happened to be a pioneering work on the subject. It was published in the form of a book in 1994 from three different countries by internationally prominent publishers, which included the Oxford University Press. The book was extensively reviewed both locally and internationally, in which it was highly appreciated and acclaimed. His other writings that include a large number of research papers published in accredited national and international Journals, have won him international recognition. Some of his writings are prescribed as essential reading on Middle East and Muslim Affairs in some of the prestigious universities of the world. He began with an interest in Middle Eastern and Muslim World affairs. His present focus of research is Kashmir and South Asian Affairs with a peace research perspective. However, he continues his interest in Political Theory, Comparative Politics and Muslim World Affairs both for teaching and research.

Dr. Baba has extensively traveled in Asia, Europe and the USA in connection with a number of academic assignments. He has participated in a host of seminars and conferences at national and international level. He has also been associated as member, advisor and expert with various academic and research institutes, organizations and universities. The places and countries he has visited so far in connection with different academic/research assignments include, Hong Kong, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Pakistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cypress, Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, France, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.

Research Interest:
Beginning with an interest in Middle Easton and Muslim World affairs, my Present focus of interest is Kashmir and South Asian Affairs with a peace research perspective. However, I continue my interest in Political Theory and Muslim World Affairs both for Teaching and research.
Contributions:
Have written a number of books and a large number of Research Articled published in reputed journals in India and abroad on issues related to Muslim World, Middle Eastern Affairs, Central Asia, Kashmir and South Asian Region One of book, Organization of Islamic Conference: Theory and Practice of Pan-Islamic Cooperation. (1994), has been simultaneously published in several countries by internationally prominent publishers that includes Oxford University Press, New York, Karachi. This was a pioneering work on the subject. The book was extensively reviewed both locally and internationally, in which it is highly appreciated and acclaimed and is being referred as a reference in many important universities internationally.

My other writings that include a large number of research papers published in acclaimed national and international Journals have won international recognition.
