Mohd. Sanjeer Alam is trained in social geography and social demography from the Centre for the Study of Regional Development (CSRD), Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi, from where he received his Ph.D in 2005. He joined Lokniti/CSDS towards the end of 2005.

Research Interest
His research covers a wide range of themes encompassing disciplinary boundaries (social geography, social demography, education, political demography, and electoral politics). He is, however, particularly interested in socio-spatial dynamics of exclusion of historically marginalized socio-cultural groups. Currently, his research focuses on 'impact of delimitation of constituencies on political representation in India' and 'designing affirmative action for religious minorities'.
