Mohd. Sanjeer Alam received his training in social geography and social demography in Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, where he took his Ph.D in 2005. He joined Lokniti in 2005.

He has worked extensively on social and spatial inequality in education in India and published a number of research papers in reputed academic and professional journals. His selected publications include:
