Editorial Assignment
Executive Editor of Natun Padatik, A bi-monthly Socio-Cultural Magazine published from Guwahati under the Editorship of Prof. Hiren Gohain. The journal is committed to progressive, democratic and secular transformation of the society in Assam and undertakes important socio-economic and political issues for discussion. The political economy and contradictions of capitalist globalization; multiple contradictions of Indian democracy, the role, significance and weaknesses of various peoples’ movements, politics of culture and literature etc. have regularly figured in the Journal. A Special Annual issue is published regularly and for every special issue focuses on a central theme. Some of the important themes discussed in the special issues are globalization, nationalism and communalism, religious fundamentalism etc.

Research Projects
Acted as one of the State Supervisors for the State of Assam, in the National Election Study (NES-2004), CNN-IBN State of the Nation Survey (2006) & The Hindu-CSDS- IBN Assembly Election Study 2006 conducted by the Center for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), New Delhi, India
Associated with and acted as a social/gender and institutional/organizational expert for a UNICEF sponsored project on Rapid Sector Assessment of Rural Water Supply and sanitation in Assam for the Department of Public Health Engineering, Assam (Courtesy STUP Consultants, Kolkata). As a part of the Assessment an Inception Report, an Intermediate Status Report, A Draft Final Repot and Final Report have already been prepared and submitted to UNICEF, Kolkata. The Vision Document has also been prepared submitted to PHED, Assam. The basic objective of this Rapid Sector Assessment is to explore the feasibility of transition towards the demand driven water and sanitation policy- Swajaldhara and TSC.
Team Member and contributed a paper for the Report on Human Security in South Asia, prepared under the auspices of BISS- Bangladesh and sponsored by Ford Foundation. The Report is prepared by Porofessor M. Hussain, Department of Political Science, Gauhati University
