| Note on false news items on Lokniti |
|
Lokniti, CSDS takes strong exception to recent attempts by some media organisations to damage its public reputation as a research group. In February 2011, we came across a false and mischievous news item in 'The Sunday Guardian' about Lokniti's alleged involvement in "an internal survey commissioned by the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh". Following a clarification from Lokniti that it has nothing whatsoever to do with the reported survey, 'The Sunday Guardian' published an apology on Page 12 of its issue dated March 6, 2011. Their Editor replied,"We apologise. We were misled about the identity of the agency. It is relevant to point out that the concerned correspondent is no longer working with us." In August 2010, a similar false news item had appeared in Newsofap.com about the alleged involvement of Lokniti's Yogendra Yadav in a secret Congress survey in Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Editor of the website later apologised and clarified that "the person associated with the survey is not Yogendra Yadav but another person with the same surname 'Yadav'."

Our organisation does not on principle conduct any confidential research, nor do we carry out any survey for an interested party. |
