CSDS Data Unit
The CSDS Data Unit was established in 1965. Today outside Western Europe and North America the Unit’s holdings might constitute one of the largest archive of social scientific survey data on political behaviour and attitudes, spanning over four decades. The Data Unit also holds a number of secondary data sets, specially on elections in India. It provides a unique combine of survey and aggregate data sets, which have been used by students of social sciences from around the world. In its early years Professor V.B. Singh and Mr. Shankar Bose nurtured the Data Unit. Professor Bashiruddin Ahmed and Professor Ramashray Roy also took great interest and its development. Presently Mr. Himanshu Bhattacharya, Ms. Kanchan Malhotra and Mr. K.A.Q.A. Hilal maintain the Data Unit. Overall supervision of the Data Unit is entrusted to Mr. Sanjay Kumar.
